Junior Triple Zero Heroes

Each year, the Junior Triple Zero Heroes Awards recognise the extraordinary bravery and composure of young Victorians who have called Triple Zero (000) in an emergency and taken action when it mattered most.

Each year, Triple Zero Victoria proudly recognises the extraordinary courage and quick thinking of young Victorians through the Junior Triple Zero Heroes Awards.

These awards celebrate children, who live in Victoria who have called Triple Zero (000) in an emergency and demonstrated remarkable composure, confidence and bravery in situations that can be overwhelming even for adults. Their actions, supported by the calm guidance of our highly trained staff, help keep themselves and others safe when it matters most.

The Junior Triple Zero Heroes Awards ceremony is held annually and brings together the heroes and their families to acknowledge their achievements in a meaningful and memorable way.

The event is attended by leaders from across Victoria’s emergency response network, including our valued partner agencies:

  • Ambulance Victoria
  • Victoria Police
  • Fire Rescue Victoria
  • Country Fire Authority (CFA)
  • Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES)
  • Emergency Management Victoria and other sector partners

Together, we celebrate the strong partnership between the community and emergency services in responding to critical incidents.

The awards ceremony is designed to honour each child’s experience and recognise their unique contribution. On the day, families are given the opportunity to:

  • Hear the Triple Zero call their child made
  • Meet the call taker involved
  • Share in a formal awards presentation

Each Junior Hero receives:

  • A personalised certificate
  • An engraved medal
  • A Benny the Bear teddy bear as a special keepsake

By celebrating these Junior Heroes, we aim to build greater awareness and confidence in using Triple Zero, and reinforce the message that knowing what to do in an emergency can make a life-saving difference.
