Yesterday we celebrated the inspiring actions of our 2026 Junior Triple Zero Heroes – 19 extraordinary young Victorians, despite their age showed remarkable courage and composure in an emergency situation.
Nominated by our staff, each of these young callers demonstrated the confidence to act when it matters the most, helping keep themselves and others safe during potentially life-threatening incidents.
The event, held at the Melbourne Museum, brought together heroes and their families for a special ceremony, featuring an address from CEO David Clayton and award presentations by the Hon, Vicki Ward – Minister for Emergency Services. A particularly moving part of the day was the families being offered the opportunity to listen to the Triple Zero calls their children made.
Each Junior Hero was formally recognised with a certificate, an engraved medal and a Benny the Bear – marking their bravery and the important role they played in an emergency.
The event which is in its 22nd year, is a proud reflection of the life-saving partnership between our people and the community, and a meaningful way to recognise the impact of both our frontline teams and the young callers they support.

Last year, you answered almost 3.1 million calls — that’s about one call every 10 seconds. But the calls from these kids were extra special, and that’s why we’re celebrating them.”
